First day of retirement

Saturday 29 December 2007 at 9:31 pm

I think I don't actually consider this as "retirement" - not like someone who has worn himself or herself out completely during a carreer and isn't capable of doing anything else but sitting and watch tv. Well, today I am at Astoria, OR (northwestern most corner of the state) biding a little time until I have to be at Nehalem Bay (Wednesday morning). I was stunned and completely overwhelmed at the sight of all the fallen and broken timber and uprooted trees, which went down as a result of the exceptional storm which hit the coast around here on Dec. 2.  It really looks like a tornado hit the area. I came across from Portland to the coast on route 26. About 15 miles from the coast is where I started seeing all the devistation to the forests and areas along the road. I saw a big metal roofed building with a big tree which just bashed it in like a tin can. Oh, my! Glad I wasn't here. THe lady at the RV park where I am tonite, said that she thought here 5th wheel trailer was going to just lift off the ground and be moved somewhere else. I bet she did.

After a couple of days more and I'll settle in for some routine. I'll bet there aren't too many campers this time of the year. Life is good and God is gooder.

 B.

I'll try to get some photos of the places that look like a complete disaster - there are some.
